Offices as collaboration spaces
Welcome back to the podcast, guys. Today, we are joined by Ujjwal Trivedi, who's the VP at Move and Sync. Ujjwal, welcome to the podcast. Hey. Hi. Hi, Nicholas, and hello to all your audience. Let's start by you telling us a little bit about yourself and what you guys do at Move and Sync. Alright. So Move and Sync is world's largest office commute platform, and it is also a suite of applications that helps enterprises across the world manage their hybrid workplace. Mhmm. And what what kind of trends are you currently seeing in the transportation and logistics industry? Right. So in the transportation and logistics and also in the workplace, like, we're seeing that world is definitely adopting hybrid. So unlike pre COVID era where people were, you know, looking at offices like schools that where you pack your bag and go every day. Instead of that, people are more and more looking at offices as collaboration places, and they go to office when necessary, when collaboration is required, or when certain tools or devices are required that are not available at home. So so that means that offices can
can become or need to become a very different shared resource. And and then employees across the globe, like, for a for an enterprise need to use it in a in a way so that it is much more efficient and optimal instead of so organizations are are leaning towards instead of, you know, putting a lot of resources in real estate, they are leaning towards optimizing it by reusing the same space for multiple people because not everyone's coming to office every day. We have an organization, for example, who is able to use, uh, about, uh, 8,000, uh, desks for over 32,000 people, uh, that they have employed. So which means that they they reuse a lot of their, uh, resources, and that is something that, uh, we see as a trend in the workplace. In commute, I think there is a lot of, effort that is going into sustainable commute, uh, and, uh, and and that sustainability is achieved by sharing commutes. So putting more people into a car or a or a shuttle is what the world is going towards. Mhmm. So you guys really make the place efficient? Yes. Yes. Uh-huh.
Who who do you believe benefits the most from what you guys do? So yeah, I think the I think everyone and when I say everyone, I I mean, like, everyone in the urban populace because cities are getting congested. Right? And and they're while they're expanding, you know, the traffic is mounting. Right? So every time one person shares a car, right, you remove one car out of the road. Right? So that is why I believe that everyone benefits from shared commute and shared resources. So so that's, you know, the part of larger vision. But at the ground level, every organization or enterprise that's using shared commute is seeing, you know, 40% more retention rates. They're seeing much, much higher employee experience, you know, ratings. And they are seeing cost reduction in their commute and workplace, which is as large as 23% sometimes. So Mhmm. That's that's that's how the enterprises and organizations across the world are getting benefit. Mhmm. Okay. And is AI playing a role in what you guys do? Absolutely. So AI is just like, you know, technology. It is any any technology that has come in last fifty years, how it has accelerated,
Ai's real-time impact
uh, the, uh, outcomes, uh, or accelerated the results, uh, that you eventually want. So what, uh, earlier used to take, you know, you'd get generate data, then you, you know, probably look at patterns, and then you would get data insights. So what what used to take months, now with AI, it is like a continuous process. And now that, you know, you're able to fetch some of those things in, you know, in in near real time, like, if not if not real time, then, yeah, pretty pretty close. Like, a continuous insight that that you can get all the time based on Mhmm. What's happening and how how things are. Do you have, like, a specific example of how you guys are integrating it into your guys' processes? Sure. So one of the things that we do is around employee safety. And another one is about productivity. So in the commute, you know, they're they're like, so we are managing over 4,000,000 commutes every month. So now when when we are managing 4,000,000 commute or 4,000,000 trips, a lot of alerts get generated based on either, you know, how the gaps,
you know, remain or pay based on the different weather and traffic conditions or based on an employee who is probably feeling unsafe and they're, you know, raising an SOS call. So based on these, a lot of alerts get generated. And with AI, we are able to identify which alert should get you know, so it it kind of looks at about 16 or 17 parameters and identifies which alerts should be prioritized and highlighted more than, you know, for the control room and and and more than more than you So so the signal to noise ratio for these alerts has increased. And similarly, in in for the from productivity point of view, the workplace solution that we have, we have started recommending. So let's say you, you know, there's a a large enterprise office, several buildings, people are sitting across buildings. As soon as, like, you add four, five people, and they may be, you know, spanning across different locations, different buildings, different floors, the system would be able to recommend a room which is sort of fair for everyone. Right? So it is I I won't say equidistant,
but something which is more clear for everyone to collaborate or or, you know, participate in. So so those kind of things are what what we are using AI for. Mhmm. It's interesting. So this is all also about marketing strategy. In terms of how you guys approach these big enterprises, how you guys do it, and what strategies have proven to be the most effective for you today? I think I think marketing is evolving really fast. So, uh, what, uh, we are seeing is that, uh, you know, something that works, uh, the basics, of course, are are same. But something that might have worked, uh, you know, two years ago or even one one year ago is is not working as efficiently anymore. So one of the primary things that we're seeing about is about ads, for example. Right? So there's it's a it's a big money down the drain is not getting as effective as it used to be in in, you know, some time back. And what is working out is more personalized, you know, that you know, most personalized touch base with effective audience. So AI, again, has been very helpful in identifying signals
4 million commutes monthly
and you know, so that it helps us reach the audience when they are looking for a solution, the kind of solution that they're looking for. Uh, you know? So one, we are able to identify more relevant folks, and two, we are able to reach out to them in a more scalable way because of because of AI. So while we are still putting a lot of manual effort in in personalization, I think AI makes it makes it a lot easier than what it used to be on. So yeah. Mhmm. And if you had a magic wand, what would you change about your business overnight? I think ethically and fairly, if I have to do something magical, I would make every, you know, person who needs the solution well aware of it. I think that that is what I'm working so that I have a very, very fair chance of pitching to them and, you know, and and, yeah, getting the yeah. Growing the business. So Okay. And what are your aspirations for move in sync in the coming years? Right. So I think we are we are third
like, India's third fastest growing company according to Time. Time's recent report, you know, we have grown seven about 700% in the last three years. And, yeah, we would wish to continue that growth and potentially, you know, yeah, improve in in all sorts, you know, while we are growing. You know, we've grown a lot as a company as well in terms of the company's strength. And and by like, our aim is that we continue with this growth while keeping our culture and our, you know, our our ethics and our direction intact. So so, yeah, I think that is what what are we are aiming Okay. Great. And for those that are interested in your work or wanting to reach out, where can they connect with you? Yeah. I'm available on LinkedIn. You can look for. And, yeah, other than that, I'm pretty much on every social media. Right? So I'm I'm on Instagram. I'm I'm on Twitter or now x. But but, yeah, I think the you know, for for people who are interested in my work, I think LinkedIn is the best source to to reach. Otherwise,
you know, you can drop me a line on at Gmail dot com. Okay. Okay. So thank you, Ujjwal, for coming on to the podcast, and thank you guys for watching.
